Global Strategy MGT 588 (1 section). Offered as part of the MBA NetPlus! program. This course is part of the international business concentration in the MBA program. Global Strategy can partially fullfill course requirements in the international business concentration or can be taken as an MBA elective.

Global Strategy MGT 588 (international business concentration course or MBA elective)
Course Description: This course focuses on the challenges confronting multinational firms that compete in the global marketplace. The primary objective of this course is for students to have an enhanced understanding of what determines the success and failure of multinational firms around the globe. Building on students' prior understanding of strategic management and international business, this course covers a range of issues pertinent to firms operating on the global stage, including growing and internationalizing the entrepreneurial firm; developing foreign entry and growth strategies; leveraging resources and capabilities internationally; managing global competitive dynamics; diversifying, acquiring, and restructuring in foreign markets; and strategizing in multiple countries with corporate social responsibility. Business implications for global strategists is heavilly emphasized throughout the course. This course uses a combination of teaching techniques such as experiential learning (e.g., running a global business strategy simulation), case study and group discussions, and classroom lectures as a means of learning.

Global Dimesions of Management MGT 585 (MBA core course)
Course Description: The aim of this course is to introduce and familiarize the student with major concepts and issues in international management. Topics incluude understanding international social and ethical issues; how cultural, political, legal, and economic dimensions of different country environments influence multinational enterprise management business decisions; comprehending the relationship between multinational business strategy and structure within a global context; and understanding how different environmental factors influence multinational enterprise managerial actions in a global context. Globalization and strategic decision making are themes that run through-out this course. This course will further develop a student's managerial skills and competencies related to information gathering, strategic analysis and interpretation, judgement, and planning in a global context.

International Management BUS 442 (international business concentration required course or BBA elective)
Course Description: This course is designed to integrate and build on the student's previous course work by extending the study of management to issues affecting individuals and businesses that operate across national boundaries. This course will examine the global manager's environment, the cultural context of global management, formulating and implementing strategy for international operations, global human resource management, and other issues involved with managing people in an international context. While many examples may be based on U.S. firms, the focus of the course will be on those problems faced by organizations attempting to conduct business across national borders.

International Business BUS 385 (BBA core course)
Course Description: The aim of this course is to introduce and familiarize the student with major concepts and issues in international business. Topics include foreign direct investment and international trade; understanding international cultural and ethical issues; how social, political, legal, and economic systems influence MNE business decisions; comprehending the relationship between business strategy and structure within a global context; how MNE marketing and human resource managament impact international operations; and understanding the evolution of international business, including how different environmental contexts influence MNE managerial decision making. Globalization is a theme that runs throughout this course.
